Volunteers are essential to providing the best care possible to the patients and families we serve throughout the greater Nashua and Manchester areas. They support our patients in every environment — home, nursing home and assisted living facilities, and our Community Hospice House.
Volunteers also provide many kinds of behind-the-scenes support. No medical experience is required – there is opportunity for everyone. Choose what fits best for you and come join our team!
Community Volunteers may volunteer one time only or have an ongoing connection with HHHC. They do any of the following: assist with fundraising events, serve on committees, sew and create special sensory items for our patients with dementia, or care for the gardens at our Community Hospice House. Community Volunteers who are veterans also assist with pinning ceremonies, specially honoring patients who are veterans

Support Volunteers assist in our Merrimack office and also at our Community Hospice House. They provide administrative support, help answer phones at the front desk, provide transportation for patients needing to get to appointments, and include our Wellspring Singers. Support Volunteers are required to keep an active volunteer file and are oriented to their chosen area of volunteering.

Patient Care Volunteers provide direct support to hospice patients and families, whether they be in private homes, assisted living and nursing home facilities, or in our Community Hospice House. Volunteers make friendly visits, help with light housekeeping or other tasks, and provide respite, allowing caregivers to take a break. Specialized volunteers also offer a number of complementary services, including Music at the Bedside, Reiki, and Pet Therapy. Veterans provide vet-to-vet support, meeting the unique needs of our veteran patients. Vigil volunteers provide presence at the very end of life. Bereavement volunteers support programs for grieving adults. All Patient Care Volunteers are required to complete the 33-hour hospice training.
