At Home Health & Hospice Care, we’ve been providing high quality, compassionate medical care to patients of all ages for more than a century. Through your generosity, we are able to care for patients – even those without insurance – in their homes in Manchester, Nashua, Derry, Salem and throughout southern New Hampshire, and at our Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.

Volunteer at Home Health & Hospice Care

Join us in supporting patients and families across southern New Hampshire. No medical experience is required—there’s a volunteer role for everyone.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Community Volunteers: Help with fundraising, committees, sensory items for dementia patients, garden care, and veteran pinning ceremonies.
  • Support Volunteers: Provide administrative assistance, answer phones, offer transportation, and join our Wellspring Singers.
  • Patient Care Volunteers: Offer friendly visits, respite for caregivers, light housekeeping, and specialized services like music therapy, Reiki, pet therapy, and vet-to-vet support. All Patient Care Volunteers complete hospice training.

Volunteer Training

HHHC Hospice Training Course in Merrimack, NH

Volunteers providing direct care to hospice patients and families must complete our comprehensive 33-hour hospice training course. Designed for accessibility, the course is offered in multiple formats at our administrative office in Merrimack, New Hampshire:

  • 2026 Spring hospice training is a daytime series, running Wednesday afternoons from 1:30-4:30 pm for 11 weeks.  We will begin February 18th and continue weekly through April 29th.
  • 2026 Summer Intensive hospice training is delivered in a very condensed format over 8 afternoons (Mondays-Thursdays) in a 2-week period. The Summer Intensive runs from 12:30-5 pm on July 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 23.
  • 2026 Fall hospice training is an evening series, running Thursdays from 6-9 pm for 11 weeks.  We will begin September 24, 2026 and continue weekly through December 10, 2026 (taking the week of Thanksgiving off).

The course is free for volunteers. Community members seeking personal or professional development can enroll for a $150 fee. All applicants must submit an application and complete an interview before beginning training.
