The Heart of Our Mission: HHHC Volunteers

By April 8, 2026No Comments

“You may think you need all kinds of equipment and training to volunteer, but what you really need is a servant’s heart and the ability to stand with people in their pain.”

During Volunteer Month, we celebrate the individuals who bring this spirit to life every day at Home Health & Hospice Care. Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do: enhancing our clinical care with compassion, connection, and presence.

From pet therapy visits that bring comfort and smiles, to Reiki and gentle touch, to music at the bedside that soothes and uplifts, our volunteers help create moments of peace and joy. They also play a special role in our We Honor Veterans program, offering recognition, gratitude, and companionship to those who have served.

Not everyone is called to serve at the bedside and that’s okay. We offer many meaningful ways to get involved, including administrative support, fundraising events, and gardening at the Hospice House, ensuring every volunteer can share their time and talents in a way that feels right for them.

Many of our volunteers come to us after experiencing our care firsthand through the loss of a loved one. They often share a desire to give back, and in doing so, find that volunteering becomes part of their own healing journey.

Each act, whether quiet or extraordinary, helps support the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. Through connection and purpose, our volunteers make a lasting difference in the lives of our patients, families, and community.

“Volunteering doesn’t just change the lives of others—it has a way of changing your own.”
